There are about 150 different types of perennials and bulbs in the nursery including:

  • Rockery plants

  • Potted bulbs


There are a few seed varieties and plastic labels available for sale. Visitors can obtain a printed catalogue and are welcome to wander around and enjoy looking at the variety of lines on offer. Some photos are on display or online.

Aconitum Napellus

Collect October to mid autumn - can be trimmed back if needed. .To 1.5 metres. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils . Grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. Moist soil. Winter dormant.

Aconitum napellus subsp. vulgare 'Albidum'

Needs collected or trimmed back from 1 October. White monk's hood. 1.2 to 1.5 metres. The long stems of lovely white flowers are useful for brightening a shady corner mid-summer. The flowers resemble the hoods that monks wear over their heads. Cut off flower stalks as they fade. Excellent cut flower. Part to full shade. Winter dormant.

Aconitum 'Newry Blue' (Monkshood)

Needs collected or trimmed from mid September. To 1.2 metres. Hooded purply-blue flowers on very erect stems late november to mid-summer. Unusually early for Aconitum. Great for back of border - best staked. Part shade, moist soi. Winter dormant.

Woodland Anemone. To 12 cms. Pale lavender blue flowers in spring. Great woodland plant, semi shade best. Winter dormant.
