Height to about 20 cms. Toothed, 5 lobed, light green leaves. Bright pale blue starry flowers in spring. Woodland. Dormant in winter.
(Jewels of Spring). To 10 cms. Very pretty open bowl shaped lavender blue flowers to 2.5 cms across, each with 6-7 sepals are borne in spring, mainly before the leaves. May have a second flowering late summer/autumn. Slow growing hardy perennial. Grow in humus rich, moist but well drained soil in partial shade. Suits a rockery. alpine or woodland garden. Winter dormant.
White blooms speckled with violet in spring. Tolerates sun in the south, suitable for part/full shade. Self seeds. Leaves and flowers edible. Winter dormant.
Large 5 to 6 year old bulbs in large round pots. Whorls of shiny green leaves. Up to 4 semi pendant flowers in dark purply/black shades. Similar interior colour but lacquered. Slight shade, humus rich soil. Keep moist even after flowering. Autumn/Winter dormant.
(Japanese Iris). To 1 metre. Really huge flattened pale pink flowers in summer. Grow in moist to wet, deep humus rich acid soil. Thrives on the margins of streams and ponds. Winter dormant.
