To 8 cms. Scalloped deep green leaves. Magenta or purple flowers with yellow eyes. Early flowering. Sun to part shade. Moist soil.
Collect or stems may need trimmed. 1.2 metre stems of pretty foliage topped with a myriad of small white flowers with prominent stamens, creating a cloud like effect. Has a lavender/white appearance. Sun or semi shade, rich soil. Moisture in summer. Winter dormant.
(Burning Bush). Plants are 1 year old. Mature plants are up to 90 cms in height. Purple-mauve flowers with darker veins early summer, highly fragrant lemon scented leaves. A beautiful plant when in flower and a favourite of mine. Lovely as specimen plant where you can brush past it. Usually take 4 years to flower. Winter dormant.
Sun or partial shade. To one metre +. Fertile humus rich, well drained soil. Smothered in showy clusters of pure white, sweet pea-like flowers among grey-green leaves. A vigorous climber, it looks lovely scrambling over a sunny wall or through a hedge or evergreen shrub, although initially it needs to be tied into supports. No fragrance. Cut back the plant to ground level in early spring. Winter dormant.
Height to 1.2 metres. Superb variety. Strong spikes bear dark purple, almost black, star-shaped flowers. Leathery green leaves are beautifully pleated. Long lived border plant. Part sun/part shade. Winter dormant.
