Mixed - mostly maroon or purple flowers on short stems. Blooms hae prominent golden eyes, elegantly edged in gold or silver-white. Sun for cooler climates and part shade elsewhere. Good drainage.
To 45 cms. Compact and late flowering with large, fluffy, cornflower-like blue flowers late summer to autumn. Sun. Suits moist, sandy but well-drained soil, good drought tolerance. Not too wet in winter. Remove spent flowering stems to encourage additional blooms. Rock garden, front of border, cottage garden. Winter dormant.
(Burning Bush). Plants are 2 years old. Mature plants are up to 90 cms in height. Purple-mauve flowers with darker veins early summer, highly fragrant lemon scented leaves. A beautiful plant when in flower and a favourite of mine. Lovely as specimen plant where you can brush past it. Usually take 4 years to flower. Winter dormant.
