Particularly suited to informal drifts of 2-3 plants in mixed or wildflower gardens. Attractive to butterflies and useful as a cut flower for fresh floral arrangements. Sun. Winter dormant.
To 80 cms. Forms a compact mould. Long stems bear large, frilly deepest lilac blue blooms summer to autumn, that are ideal for picking. Sun or part shade in containers or garden.
To 20 cms. Forms a low tuft or mound of grey-green leaves, bearing balls of violet-blue flowers for weeks on end that look similar to a Scabious or Pincushion Flower. Prefers an acidic, well drained soil. Excellent in a rock garden but suitable for a border or edging a pathway. Remove faded flowers to promote more buds to form. Sun to part shade.
